ABOUT CARLOS
Carlos De León is a native of Puerto Rico, and began his boxing journey at the Juan Popo Guzmán Gym in Cupey Alto under the guidance of the late Juan Gómez and his father, Carlos De León Sr. His exceptional talent soon led him to the Cheo Aponte Torres Gym in Caguas, where he has continued to hone his skills under his father’s mentorship and other esteemed coaches.
As a youth boxer, Carlos became a national champion in both categories, securing his spot on the Puerto Rico National Team. At just 18 years old, he claimed the Puerto Rico Elite National Championship title in the 60kg (132 lbs) category, solidifying his dominance in the sport.
On the international stage, Carlos has an impressive résumé, including:
Four-time Champion of the Sugar Bert Boxing Tournament (USA): Awarded the WBC Belt in 2019 as the best boxer among over 400 competitors.

De Leon went 3-0 in 2024, as he defeated Jose Guevara in the undercard of Matchroom Boxing’s Paro vs. Hitchens event, as well as dominating Levale Whittington at ‘Most Valuable Prospects 9’ in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The bout (seen below) featured incredible exchanges, with De Leon showing his punching power, savvy ring IQ, and relentless counter-punching.
